BAU 2025: “Roto NX” – the all-round Tilt&Turn hardware
For pure design and wide variety of formats: the “Roto NX | C“ concealed hinge side / Innovative components from the “Roto NX” range improve burglary protection / Reliability for heavy sashes: the “Roto NX | Power Hinge” hinge side / “Perfect match” between hardware and seal / Easy-to-install: the “GL-B” glazing block with brake membrane from the “Roto Glas-Tec” range / Optimally coordinated components for economical production
Leinfelden-Echterdingen – The market-dominating “Roto NX” Tilt&Turn hardware product range from Roto Frank Fenster- und Türtechnologie GmbH (Roto FTT) includes solutions for a wide range of different formats. Various hinge sides and an incredibly extensive selection of hardware components ensure that windows and balcony doors function reliably, even at high sash weights for instance and up to resistance class RC 4. The “perfect match” between Roto hardware and TPE sealing profiles from Deventer, which is optimised with operating convenience and sealing in mind, was a focal topic at the “BAU” trade show, as was the range of glazing blocks from the “Roto Glas-Tec” series for extremely durable windows. The Tilt&Turn windows and balcony doors that were presented there remain on display in the “Roto City”. The assigned regional specialist advisor from Roto Sales can show these to anyone interested in finding out more there – whether they have already seen the exhibits that were showcased at the trade fair or are viewing them for the first time.

Design star with a whole host of strengths
For many attendees at the trade show in Munich, the “Roto NX | C” concealed hinge side played a leading role at the Roto FTT stand. The manufacturer explained that this is perfectly coordinated with the other components in the “Roto NX” range, so it can be flexibly integrated into any production processes, even if this is highly automated. In additional to conventional window formats, it is possible to produce elements up to a width of 1750 mm and a height of 3000 mm. Sash weights of up to 150 kg are possible for PVC and up to 180 kg for timber with load transfer and a turn restrictor. The “NX | C” hinge side and outward opening windows can be used to cater to the new trend for “long and slimline” formats. All hinge sides from the “Roto NX” range are robust and tested in accordance with DIN EN 13126-8 and class H3 (20,000 cycles).
Operating convenience achieves RC 3
The growing number of attempted break-ins is giving rise to increasing demand for windows and balcony doors in security class RC 3. Manufacturers are sure to find the components they need for their production process in the “Roto NX” range. A tested RC 3 PVC window was showcased at “BAU”, featuring the “Roto NX | P” surface-mounted hinge side, proven components like drilling protection, a lockable handle and strikers made of hardened steel.
Using wired, fully concealed MVS contact elements (VdS class B) from the “Roto E-Tec Control” range, every window with “Roto NX” can be integrated into a burglar alarm system.
RC 2 in the tilt position
In 2018, Roto was the first supplier to open up the possibility of even greater burglary protection for Tilt&Turn windows: using the “Roto NX | TiltSafe” hardware system means that elements achieve burglary protection class RC 2 even in the tilt position. This is why this innovative security hardware has found its way into the portfolios of renowned window manufacturers. A timber RC 2 window with the “NX | C” concealed hinge side and three “TiltSafe” strikers, as well as V locking cams, a lockable handle and drilling protection, was showcased at “BAU” in Munich.
The specialists at Deventer recommend working with sealing profiles tailored to the hardware so that elements are hassle-free to operate despite having more locking points. TPE seals from the company ensure pleasant and soft locking characteristics with high tolerance intake.
Getting a handle on heavyweights
Timber construction material and its natural beauty are popular. The same is true of large windows. With the “Roto NX | Power Hinge” hinge side, Roto ensures security and long-lasting quality. It can be used on Tilt&Turn windows up to a sash weight of 200 kg and on Turn-Only windows up to a sash weight of 300 kg. This means that the hinge side is an extremely robust yet attractive solution for large sashes and for sashes with functional glazing.
From a sash weight of 200 kg and above, a central hinge is added to the hardware. Roto offers an anti-slam device for use with the “Roto NX | Power Hinge”. It secures the sash in the tilt position and can also be retrofitted if required. P and V locking cams are available for producing burglar inhibiting “Power Hinge” windows and balcony doors. These types of elements can also be integrated into a smart home system on request. The “Roto Com-Tec Comfort S” wireless sensor monitors the window and informs users via an app whether it is closed or opened, and if the sash is tilted or shaken.
Window users expect even large elements to provide excellent thermal insulation and to be easy to operate with little force. Convenient, effortless locking characteristics are the benchmark. Users find the high operating forces required for tight sealing to be uncomfortable. Deventer incorporated all of these features into the design of components including the “SP 7612” foamed TPE sealing profile, making the seal a “perfect match” for the “Roto NX | Power Hinge” hinge side.
Accessible construction
Accessible patio doors are being requested for an increasing number of projects. Roto meets system suppliers’ demands to design hardware that is a perfect match for a zero barrier threshold with a combination of components from the “Roto NX” range: by using Roto strikers that are compatible with the threshold and modified, push-back safeguarded Roto claws, an accessible balcony door can also achieve RC 2 classification.
Vertical, horizontal – reliable spacer blocking with Roto
The “Roto Glas-Tec” range offers extremely easy-to-install blocks like the “GL-B” for reliable and efficient spacer blocking. This block has two brake membranes. They provide the best hold without additional fixing, even with the block in a vertical position, as the brake membranes prevent the “GL-B” from slipping in the glass rebate or falling down. This block’s asymmetrical profile leg system makes it incredibly stable under continuous pressure and able to bear loads.
All Roto glazing blocks have been certified by ift Rosenheim in accordance with QM 330 in the company’s in-house International Technology Centre (ITC). Regular tests ensure material compatibility with all common edge composite materials.
Extension of the product range
“Our ‘Roto NX’ Tilt&Turn hardware product range is continuously growing,” explained Eberhard Mammel, Director of Marketing and Product Innovation at Roto FTT, at “BAU”. One of the reasons for this is that Roto constantly looks for and finds an ideal, reliable solution for customers’ specific requirements and new requests. “We ensure a comfortable and secure future in buildings with tested, consistently high product quality and a reliable service around the world.”
