30 years of Roto production in Lövő, Hungary

Merger of production and electroplating

The anniversary also marks the start of a new chapter: on 1^st January 2027, the companies at the Lövő production site and the electroplating plant in Sopron, which have previously been separate organisations, will be brought together under the umbrella of Roto Elzett Certa Kft. The merger is preceded by an important strategic move: back in early 2025, Roto acquired the remaining shares held by its joint venture partner in the electroplating facility in Sopron and has held a full stake in the company ever since.

The electroplating plant has been an indispensable part of the production chain for decades. This is where the components produced in Lövő receive their high-quality surface treatments. The aim of this closer organisational integration is to further improve processes along the value chain, capitalise on synergies and boost the long-term viability of both sites. In addition, a comprehensive development programme is set to further strengthen electroplating activities.

Quality and delivery reliability secured for the long term

This means even greater process reliability for window and door manufacturers. Streamlined decision-making processes, joint investments and the pooling of expertise help to ensure the high quality of hardware solutions and the reliability of deliveries in the long term. Customers therefore benefit from a strong production network that will continue to respond reliably and flexibly to market demands in the future. The planned investments in the electroplating facility will further increase capacity and lay the foundations for a stable long-term supply to international markets.

Centre of excellence for hardware production

Roto’s history in Hungary began in 1991 with its involvement in the privatisation of the Sopron site. This was followed in 1996 by the establishment of the Lövő production site. On a total area of almost 140,000 square metres, a production area of around 15,000 square metres has since been developed into a state-of-the-art factory complex comprising production, storage and administrative buildings totalling 31,500 square metres.

Today, Lövő is recognised within Roto Window and Door Technology’s international production network for its high level of manufacturing expertise and efficient production processes. Its core areas of expertise include punching, assembly and toolmaking. The site manufactures hardware for Tilt&Turn, Turn-Only and Tilt-Only windows, sliding systems and components for roof windows. Close cooperation with the surface treatment facility in Sopron creates an integrated value chain and underpins high product quality as well as reliable delivery to window and door manufacturers worldwide.

Three special milestones

Marcus Sander, CEO of Roto Window and Door Technology, emphasises the importance of the site: “We are celebrating no fewer than three special milestones in Hungary: 35 years of Roto in Hungary, 30 years of production in Lövő and 25 years of the sales company. This achievement would not have been possible without the dedicated work of our staff. Lövő is a key component of our global production and distribution network.” Roto Window and Door Technology comprises 18 production plants, 31 logistics and distribution centres, and over 30 sales offices worldwide. 

For Ernő Kocsis, Site Manager at Lövő, the staff are the key factor: “Our success is down to the people who work here. Many of my colleagues have been with the site for decades; in some cases, several generations of the same family work at Roto. This strong sense of community, the high level of professional expertise and the willingness to play an active part in shaping change have characterised our site for many years and form an important foundation for its successful development.” 

The company celebrated its 30^th anniversary together with its staff. This milestone highlights the strong ties between the staff and the site, as well as the successful journey Roto has undertaken in Hungary over the past three decades.
