Tilting and locking windows electrically with “Roto E-Tec Drive”

Leinfelden-Echterdingen – Natural ventilation via tiltable fanlights is a popular solution for rooms that are to be flooded with daylight through large window areas. Whether it’s a stairwell, a public waiting area, a classroom or a sports hall – combining a large fixed glazing panel with a small, tiltable sash saves space in the room. The challenge? The fanlight must be opened indirectly. The quiet “Roto E-Tec Drive” electric tilt drive is a particularly convenient and secure solution. It is activated either by a push-button, a wireless push-button or a remote control, or as part of a smart home system. The tilt depth can be set to any value depending on requirements. The “E-Tec Drive” is now available for windows made from any frame material with a sash weight of up to 100 kg.

Safe ventilation day and night

Regular, controlled ventilation is essential in tightly sealed buildings. Optimal air circulation is particularly important in places where large numbers of people gather. Electrically tiltable fanlights not only ensure a sufficiently high air exchange rate, but also offer advantages in terms of the durability of windows and reveals, as well as protection against incorrect operation.

The “Roto E-Tec Drive” electric tilt drive is compatible with the “Roto NX” and “Roto AL” hardware systems and is also suitable for larger Tilt&Turn windows fitted with Roto “TiltFirst” hardware. Sash rebate widths ranging from 450 to 2400 mm and sash rebate heights ranging from 285 to 3000 mm are possible. The sleek design of the electric drive ensures an attractive appearance; when the sash is locked, it is fully concealed and cannot be seen from either the outside or the inside.

The fully automatic tilting and locking of a window fitted with an “E-Tec Drive” can be activated not only via a push-button, but also via a remote control or a wireless push-button. The ability to open and lock windows featuring an “E-Tec Drive” individually via the remote control is guaranteed at all times. They can also be opened mechanically, for example for cleaning or maintenance purposes.

 Compatible with all Roto sensors

The “E-Tec Drive” also opens and locks sashes fitted with additional strikers for enhanced burglary protection. The opening status of the window featuring an “E-Tec Drive” can be monitored electronically using “MVS” or “MTS” contact elements from the “Roto E-Tec Control” product range or a “Com-Tec” sensor. If the use of an extractor hood is to be monitored via the “Roto E-Tec Control | DAS” control system, the relevant sensor can also be fitted. The extractor fan can only be used when the window is open.

Easy to install and commission

The “Connection Set” and the “Wireless Connection Set” are available for installing a window fitted with the “Roto E-Tec Drive”. The “Wireless Connection Set” also includes an EnOcean radio module, which allows the “E-Tec Drive” to be programmed directly into standard smart home systems that use EnOcean. The “Wireless Connection Set” can be used to connect wireless push-buttons and radio remote controls.

Both connection sets feature the same housing and are particularly easy to install using the wired plug-and-play method. When ordering the drive and connection set, the window manufacturer simply needs to consider whether the unit is to be fitted to a sash hinged on the right or left, and whether the version with the EnOcean radio module (“Wireless Connection Set”) is required.

Smart home ready

When used in conjunction with smart home or building automation systems, the “E-Tec Drive” ensures that windows are tilted for ventilation and securely locked again, all fully automatically. It is possible to program ventilation intervals individually. For example, windows can be opened in a controlled manner at night during the summer to cool down a building. If a ventilation time has been set, the window closes automatically once this time has passed. However, ventilation can also be controlled via sensors that monitor the room air and a control centre, in which the duration of a ventilation interval is programmed according to the customer’s preferences.

Using the intuitive “Roto E-Tec Drive Control Unit”, the fitter checks that the window is working properly after installation. When connected to a PC or laptop, settings can be adjusted on the “E-Tec Drive” via a user interface. The ventilation duration, the extent to which the window is opened and the speed at which the sash opens can all be adapted individually. Audible signals can be activated and deactivated.
