SKG** certificate for butt hinges from Roto
Burglary inhibition for PVC external doors / SKG** certification of P series butt hinges from the “Roto Solid B” range / Slim appearance of the hinge paired with high level of security / Leaf weights of up to 160 kg
Leinfelden-Echterdingen – Butt hinges from the “Roto Solid B” range are characterised by their incredibly slim design and ease of use during installation. In future, manufacturers of PVC external doors stand to benefit from another successfully completed security test. They can now also use P series hinges to produce solutions in line with the SKG** standard. This requires the PVC external door to be equipped with at least three butt hinges together with the “Solid B” hinge retaining mechanism. The “Roto Solid B | 222 P” (two-part) and “Roto Solid B | 322 P” (three-part) hinges have been tested.

Stringent burglary inhibition tests
Combining the aforementioned hinges with the “Solid B” hinge retaining mechanism is fundamental to ensuring that they are RC 2-compatible on PVC external doors. RC 2 certification was achieved back in 2023. Now both hinges are once again proving just how effective they are at providing burglary protection on PVC doors together with the hinge retaining mechanism. They were put through their paces in stringent tests in accordance with SKG-IKOB Guideline BRL 3104 and NEN 5089 (EN 1627).
This involves using various tools like screwdrivers, water pump pliers, combination pliers, mole grips, hammers, open-end spanners and wedges. The break-in attempt lasts for a total of three minutes, during which time experienced testers attempt to open the door on the hinge side. According to police estimates, burglars would give up trying to break in through the door far sooner due to the high noise levels.
Pure design
However, the two SKG**-certified butt hinges don’t only embody tested burglary inhibition. Like all members of the “Roto Solid B” range of hinges, they also impress with their slim shape. The linear and continuous 3D height, lateral and gasket compression adjustment, integrated into the hinge roller, is especially easy to use. Offset outlines and gaps between the frame component and leaf component are reliably prevented.
For leaf weights up to 160 kg
The P series from the “Roto Solid B” range includes two- and three-part butt hinges with diameters of 18 and 22 mm for PVC, timber and aluminium external doors. Depending on the butt hinge version selected, the number of hinges and the properties of the chosen door profile, leaf weights of up to 80 kg, 120 kg or 160 kg are possible. The 200,000 opening cycles achieved in accordance with DIN EN 1935 and DIN EN 1191 confirm the reliable durability of all butt hinges. The class 5 corrosion protection represents the highest level in accordance with DIN EN 1670.
These butt hinges come mostly preassembled, so it takes just a few operation step to install them, either in the rebate or in the overlap. They can be adjusted without needing to unhinge the door.
