Leinfelden-Echterdingen – A double-leafed main door with a greater opening width and an elegant appearance appeals to architect and builders alike. To avoid compromising on operating convenience and burglary protection, Roto Frank Fenster- und Türtechnologie GmbH recommends equipping double-leafed external doors with a combination of a modern locking system and premium hardware for the second opening leaf. This is precisely what the “lever-operated espagnolette, standard“ provides for timber and PVC doors in the “Roto Safe” product range.

Modular for maximum flexibility
The new “lever-operated espagnolette, standard” can be used with extensions (600 or 800 mm available) in virtually all standard locking patterns up to a sash rebate height of 3000 mm (locking pattern V02/03). It can be combined with all Roto multipoint locks, including “Roto Safe A | Tandeo“ and “Roto Safe E | Eneo A“ and therefore boasts a wide application range. The manufacturer refers to a “modular system for minimal storage requirements”.
Secure locking thanks to the mishandling device
The second opening leaf is locked and unlocked using a side lever on the new lever-operated espagnolette without the strain of bending down. A mishandling device provides greater security. This only locks the first opening leaf once the side lever on the lever-operated espagnolette is retracted and the main deadbolt blocks the connecting rod of the second opening leaf. This ensures that the correct closing order is observed, and the door is securely locked.
High functional safety
Roto emphasises that the “lever-operated espagnolette, standard” is an incredibly reliable solution which ensures that a double-leafed entrance door fulfils its intended purpose with minimal maintenance requirements. The espagnolette is corrosion-resistant in accordance with EN 1670 class 5, and its shootbolt protrusion has been improved for greater stability. The side lever has been tested over 25,000 opening cycles. The lever-operated espagnolette is compatible with RC 2 and tested by SKG**.
Economical production
For fitters, the new “lever-operated espagnolette, standard” has cropping marks to simplify correct cutting. No routing is required for the side operating lever. Another reason why less routing work is needed is because the “lever-operated espagnolette, standard” has no deadbolt casing. If the door is to be opened electronically, for instance in conjunction with the “Eneo CC” electromechanical lock, a marking for the drilling position allows a magnetic contact to be easily integrated and retrofitted as required.
