New Deventer seal offers more freedom for glass pane tolerances
Dry glazing: new research project completed successfully / Coextruded silicone seal / Groundbreaking development for sealing the external joint on timber/aluminium windows / Easy to install, even on construction sites / “Fensterbau Frontale” 2026
Leinfelden-Echterdingen / Berlin – For the outside of timber/aluminium windows to be reliably sealed, the pane of glass must be precisely positioned in the profile. To achieve this, the seal installed on the inside must absorb most of the insulating pane’s tolerances. This is why window manufacturers usually keep different thicknesses of glazing seals in stock. The new generation of the “DS 7354c” coextruded sealing profile from Deventer Profile GmbH makes it possible to compensate for tolerances on the outer side of the window too, making glazing far simpler. Thanks to its design, this product can provide long-lasting and flexible sealing of a joint between the aluminium shell and pane of glass with a stop distance of up to 6.5 mm.

Reliable external sealing
The seal head of the “DS 7354c” sealing profile is made from a particularly flexible silicone foam which keeps the compression consistent as the pressure increases. The compression is fully absorbed by the seal head. There is virtually no lateral bulging of the seal, which occurs on many lip seals and can spoil the appearance.
Simple glazing on construction sites
The “DS 7354c” can also be processed under construction site conditions and at any outside temperature, so it makes transom / mullion facades – which are not glazed until they are delivered to the installation site – easier to produce. What’s more, the new sealing profile is also the perfect choice if a replacement seal is required for maintenance on dry-glazed timber/aluminium windows thanks to its impressive flexibility and excellent processing properties.
Manual or mechanical
The new “DS 7354c” glazing seal can be pulled around corners and features an anti-stretch thread. It can be inserted manually or mechanically. This is an important feature for the pilot fabricator of the new development, as the company is constantly increasing the degree of automation in its production process and would like to process sealing profiles mechanically in future.
Developing the tools for producing the “DS 7354c” sealing profile proved to be a huge challenge for Deventer and its partners. Sources at the company describe how the development workload was high. Nevertheless, it became apparent at an early stage of the project that an innovation for dry glazing was being developed – with huge potential for other applications in the timber window industry.
Jürgen Daub, Head of Product Development at Deventer, emphasises: “We’re confident that this profile design can bring about a fundamental shift in the timber window industry’s understanding of dry glazing.”
The new “DS 7354c” glazing seal, which boasts excellent outdoor durability, is already available in Signal black and Slate grey as standard. One Deventer spools holds 250 metres of the new sealing profile, while 12 spools fit on one Euro pallet. The spools and outer packaging are made from recyclable cardboard.
Research on behalf of a customer
Mike Piqeur, Managing Director of Deventer Profile GmbH, is pleased that “while conducting research on behalf of a customer, we have once again come up with a product concept which holds great potential for the future of the industry. With the design and properties of the ‘DS 7354c’ glazing seal, we’ve struck a chord with manufacturers of timber windows. I know that from many conversations I’ve had.” Specifically, timber window manufacturers are looking for new solutions for dry glazing which can be reliably automated both in plants and on construction sites.
“Roto and Deventer are continuously working on products which help building element manufacturers uphold their high-quality standards. The new ‘DS 7354c’ seal is the tangible result of this dedication. We make our customers’ concerns our own concerns, which is just one of the reasons we have proved ourselves to be the perfect match for anyone who wants safe production processes resulting in easy-to-install products.”
