Certified material quality for Deventer sealing profiles

Leinfelden-Echterdingen – Deventer Profile GmbH, a leading European supplier of TPE seals and a subsidiary of Roto Frank Fenster- und Türtechnologie GmbH, has published an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its sealing profiles made from TPE-S, TPE-V and flexible PVC, and has received an A+ rating for the VOC emissions of its products made from TPE-S, TPE-V, flexible PVC and silicone. These two forms of certification apply to all Deventer sites in Germany, the Netherlands and Poland.

Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) valid until 2030

The EPD drawn up and verified by ift Rosenheim is valid until 15th April 2030. It supplies important information for building certification systems and helps window and door manufacturers prove the environmental impact of their products. The EPD covers Deventer sealing profiles made from flexible PVC and two types of thermoplastic elastomer: TPE-S and TPE-V. These materials are used for static and dynamic sealing in building elements and are suitable for applications in accordance with EN 14351-1 and 14351-2.

Life cycle and life cycle assessment

The EPD describes in detail the different phases in the life cycle of the sealing profiles, including manufacture, construction, use and disposal. It also considers the potential of the seals to be reused, recovered and recycled. The life cycle assessment drawn up by ift Rosenheim demonstrates the effects of the materials on 13 core environmental impact indicators, including acidification, ozone depletion, climate change and eutrophication. The basis of the calculations is DIN EN 15804:2012+A2:2019 2, which meets the requirements of international standards DIN EN ISO 14040 3, DIN EN ISO 14044 4 and EN ISO 14025 5, and is also based on ISO 21930 6. Proven to be low-emission

Another crucial factor when it comes to choosing the best seal for window and door systems is the quality of the room air. Construction materials, furniture or technical components like seals can emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can have an impact on health in the long term. In thorough laboratory tests performed by ift Rosenheim, Deventer seals made from TPE-S, TPE-V, flexible PVC and silicone were assessed for VOC emissions and received the best possible rating of A+. The score of A+ represents minimal emissions and maximum protection for the room air. The VOC certificate can be accessed online at ftt.roto-frank.com/en-deventer-voc

Environmental and health protection

Deventer’s EPD is transparent proof of the environmental impact of its products. By achieving the best possible classification of A+, the assessment of the VOC emissions underlines the exceptional health protection. These two forms of certification are based on recognised test procedures and are a reliable foundation for planners, builders and fabricators. This proof is a key pillar of the seal specialist’s quality philosophy and is a compelling reason to use Deventer products in residential and commercial buildings worldwide.
