Roto young talents achieve podium finish in national “playbizz” competition

Leinfelden-Echterdingen – Apprentices and a dual-study student from Roto Frank Fenster- und Türtechnologie achieved an outstanding third place in the nationwide “playbizz” business simulation competition (https://www.playbizz.de/). The team had previously secured first place at the state-level competition in Baden-Württemberg.

A total of 126 training companies competed against one another. The competition is organized by “Bildungswerke der Wirtschaft in Deutschland“. Earning a podium finish under these conditions highlights the strong performance and capabilities of the young talents at the hardware specialist Roto.

Hands-on business simulation

“playbizz” is an annual business simulation in which teams assume the role of a company’s management and realistically manage planning and decision-making processes ranging from production and human resources to sales and investments. All teams start under the same conditions and guide their companies through several fictitious financial years with the goal of achieving long-term success.

The 39th edition of the simulation consisted of four online rounds held between November 2025 and March 2026, followed by state and national finals conducted in person. The five best teams qualified for the national final in Bremen including the Roto team.

An accompanying program also promoted personal interaction among participants. During a joint visit to the “Hafen Rummel” event in Bremen, they had the opportunity to get to know one another outside the competition environment and build networks across teams.

 Strengthening key competencies

The simulated business processes require participants to demonstrate strong analytical thinking, teamwork and decision-making skills. They learn to understand complex interrelationships, assess risks and make sound decisions under time pressure while developing skills they can apply directly in their professional careers.

Promoting young talent as a success factor

“The results achieved by our apprentices in the ‘playbizz’ business simulation underscore the high quality and strong practical orientation of our training program. We involve our young talents in operational processes at an early stage and entrust them with independent responsibilities across different areas of the company. In this way, we maintain the high standards of our work for our customers through targeted professional training while simultaneously laying the foundation for our company’s long-term success,” emphasizes Sophie Urban, HR Site Manager Leinfelden-Echterdingen at Roto Frank Fenster- und Türtechnologie GmbH.

The success in “playbizz” confirms Roto’s training strategy: through targeted development and independent responsibility, young professionals are prepared to meet the demands of a dynamic market today and in the future. Interested candidates can find more information about apprenticeships and dual-study programs at Roto Window and Door Technology on the company’s careers website ftt.roto-frank.com/en/apprentices.
