Effective butt hinges

Leinfelden-Echterdingen – Roto Window and Door Technology (FTT) maintains a “clear system architecture” for door hinges too. By doing so, the company aims to cater to all of the various requirements of the individual market segments. One example of this is the “Roto Solid B” butt hinge range that was designed for the largest segment. It has now been made even more effective with the addition of aluminium clamp hinges. This can be seen when it comes to installation and adjustment, product safety and stability, burglary inhibition and design.

According to the producer, two versions 155 mm and 223 mm long with a hinge diameter of 24 mm are available in the form of types “224 A” (two-part) and “324 A” (three-part). The principle of integrating all adjustment mechanisms in the roller has a positive impact, for example on installation and adjustment. Integrated, continuous height and lateral adjustment is possible when closed. There is no need to unhinge the door either. The preassembled clamping block that is adapted to the clamping grooves ensures simple and fast installation. This does away with the need for profile machining. It is not necessary to undo the fixing or clamping screws in the baseplate to adjust the hinges.

The internal adjustment mechanism also offers visual advantages. It prevents both gap formation and axis offset. Regardless of the setting, the appearance is always the same, maintaining the sleek look of the butt hinge. The “Solid B” duo seamlessly blends into the overall design. It offers a wide range of powder-coated or anodised colours for design-oriented doors.

Roto firstly highlights the high load-bearing capacity in the important category of product safety and stability. While the two-part version is suitable for leaf weights up to 100 kg, the load-bearing capacity of the three-part variant increases to a maximum of 120 kg. In both cases, this necessitates a connection with two hinges. High-quality materials such as extruded aluminium and galvanised steel also ensure perfect product quality and corrosion protection in accordance with DIN EN 1670: class 5. The 200,000 opening cycles achieved in accordance with DIN EN 1935 confirm the reliable continuous operation of the current generation of butt hinges.
