Window production 4.0 - Casamayor Perfiles S.L., Spain
When Justo Contreras and Tomas Casamayor acquired a construction carpentry business in the Spanish city of Mérida in 2013, their team was made up of 17 members of staff. The company, which was rebranded as Casamayor Perfiles, now has 97 employees. The decision to produce premium profiles and hardware and to invest in state-of-the-art systems and processes paved the way for growth.
“Over the past few months, Casamayor Perfiles has taken decisive steps towards modernisation,”
reports Managing Director Justo Contreras during his visit to the Fensterbau Frontale trade show 2024. This year, the company intends to more than double its production capacity compared to 2013.
The management team planned the “Industry 4.0” project together with key suppliers like Roto. The aim is to extensively automate an extremely flexible window production process. Contreras explains the significance of flexibility as a factor in the company’s success: “We can hold our own against low-cost suppliers from abroad if we design a window with specific added value for each building, each room and each stylistic preference.”
Functional added value
Under his leadership, a ten-strong team in sales collaborates closely with specialist dealers which make up the window manufacturer’s exclusive Spanish sales network. Regular product and sales training lays the foundations for providing the very best advice and successfully selling products. Contreras is sure:
“Low-cost suppliers don’t offer any advice regarding the functional added value which makes it possible to use certain hardware components, for example.”
A window manufacturer that doesn’t inform builders about all modern window functions deprives them of the opportunity to optimally equip their home. The window expert believes that the inadequate advice could be down to a shortage of specialists or a lack of effective hardware technology. Things are different at Casamayor Perfiles! Once a customer has come across one of the company’s trade partners, it’s highly likely that they will make a purchase because of the comprehensive advice they receive. The proportion of successfully concluded sales is steadily growing.
Regularly contacting architects generates additional turnover. By telling them about the possibilities of modern windows and doors, the knowledge of new functions and feasible designs will be multiplied many times over and shared in more conversations with builders.
Efficiency with Roto NX and Roto Patio Alversa
However, for production to be flexible it’s important that industry partners intelligently plan their product ranges. “For instance, we appreciate how with Roto NX, Roto offers us hardware that is able to support sash weights of up to 130 kg even in the standard version, but also includes various additional components which allow us to offer larger sashes weighing up to 150 kg and to flexibly adapt the burglary protection to customer requirements.”
Casamayor Perfiles equips Tilt&Turn windows with Roto NX and sliding systems with Roto Patio Alversa. “The handle control is the same in both systems. That’s convenient for users. And we can use many components that we keep in stock both for Tilt&Turn windows as well as for different versions of the Roto Patio Alversa sliding system.” Contreras summarises two of the benefits of the decision to choose both of these hardware product ranges:
“Roto NX and Roto Patio Alversa ensure efficient production Processes and reduce our stock levels.”
A key factor in achieving this degree of efficiency is that Roto Patio Alversa sashes are produced on the same line as Tilt&Turn windows, doing away with the need for a separate production line.
He reports that Roto Patio Alversa | PS Air Com with comfort tilt ventilation is the most commonly sold version at Casamayor Perfiles. This is proof of the good advice given. The additional tilt support in the hinge of the Parallel Sliding system ensures ease of operation with high sash weights, like those which occur when using functional glazing.
New profile system for greater sustainability
Even though the demand in the building renovation sector is slightly declining in Spain at the moment, the window professional believes that extremely energy-efficient and sustainable window systems will enjoy success in the future: “We now provide advice relating to windows that we manufacture with Kömmerling AluNext plus triple glazing. This profile, consisting of a recycled PVC core and an aluminium shell, can be used to produce elements which have good environmental credentials and can themselves be recycled after they are removed.” Different colours can be chosen for the inner and outer profile shells on request.
With options like this, Casamayor Perfiles will continue to set itself apart from the competition in future. Contreras is confident that the comfort segment shows no signs of stopping any time soon.
Partnership in action
And what does the window professional expect from its partner Roto? “Essentially that they won’t just leave us to it, and that they will continue to provide us with the same support as before. Roto Frank Espana is like one big family, and you notice that in your daily interactions.” In future, the quality of a supplier’s digital services will be more important than ever before for the efficiency of customer-focused production. Roto knows this and not only offers hardware designed for automated production, but also a first-class data service. System control at Casamayor Perfiles and order processes would benefit from the dependable work of Roto IT specialists.
“At the point when we take hardware components out of the warehouse, they are automatically reordered from Roto.”
This means that the Spanish window manufacturer is always able to carry out its work and supply its products. “And that will still hold true even if we achieve the planned 5 % turnover growth this year.”
