This concealed hinge side allows the sash to be opened fully up to 180°, while it is also suitable for flush aluminium profiles thanks to its optimised kinematics. As a result, it offers additional design freedom, especially as part of modern facade concepts and in premium residential and commercial construction. The new hinge side is available for windows with the Turn-Only or Tilt&Turn opening type.
Cradle to Cradle Certified®
“Roto AL Designo | STS 180°” is also one of the Roto hardware solutions certified as Cradle to Cradle Certified® Full Scope Bronze under Version 4.1. As such, aluminium window manufacturers have access to verified and assessed product information that can be used for tenders, building certifications or sustainability assessments.
Flexible combinations in the modular hardware system
“Roto AL Designo | STS 180°” is fully compatible with components from the “Roto AL” modular hardware system, including all opening restrictors. This allows project-specific requirements to be met with flexibility.

High resistance, even when used in challenging conditions
All of the punched components in the hinge side are made from stainless steel and meet the requirements of corrosion class 5 in accordance with DIN EN 1670. This makes “Roto AL Designo | STS 180°” suitable even for applications where windows and hardware are exposed to increased climatic loads. The hinge side was subject to testing including in accordance with DIN EN 13126-8, where it achieved durability class H3 (20,000 cycles).
Matthias Nagat, Head of Aluvision Sales and Product Management, emphasises the extremely high standard demanded by the architectural hardware specialist when testing the new hinge side: “According to the standard, 180° hardware only needs to be tested to a 90° opening angle. Roto made a deliberate decision to go beyond these specifications and tested the parts with a 180° opening angle.”
