Roto Inside | 6.2013 10 | Ventana USA Member of a family of specialists Particularly popular with American home-owners: Ventana USA ’s garden windows with Roto’s OPO6 X-Drive. The unusual window shapes limit the degree of automation in the manufacturing process at Ventana USA. Technical expertise and experience are much more important. Experienced staff is manufacturing special windows such as the popu- lar garden windows. ■■ PVC Since its foundation in 1987,Ventana USA has become one of the most competent and leading PVC specialists in North America. The company has also become a pioneer of the now internationally operating Ventana group.Ventana France,Ventana Deutschland,Ventana Polska – they all con tinue what was started in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, more than 25 years ago. For Ventana USA, everything is about PVC. Right from the beginning, the company specialised in unique but effective win dows and doors. “Our core business in this area can be split into three main groups,” Tony Pauly, Vice President/General Manager of Ventana USA, explains. “We do manufacture arched windows and windows in unique geometrical shapes. But we have also developed special garden and bay windows which have proved particularly popular with American home owners. The third pillar of our business is what we call ‘Euro Products’. This refers to Tilt&Turn solutions and ‘Swing’ and sliding doors, which now also have many loyal followers in North America. We only deliver our products to colleagues who offer, sell and install them alongside their own-brand PVC windows. Only a few, typically European products are delivered to chosen builders and general contractors. Apart from window and door manufacturers, we are also in demand with producers of fences and railings who value our PVC competence – another important business avenue for us.” Craftsmanship is irreplaceable A large manufacturing plant was built in 1993 at what is now the company’s headquarters in Export, around 40 km to the east of Pittsburgh, which enabled Ventana USA to produce their own insulating glazing. In 2000, the plant was expanded to approximately 6,600 square metres. Ventana USA currently employs 67 people. Considering all product groups together, 25,000 to 30,000 units leave the company complex every year. “Naturally, the degree of automation in our production is limited. We do distinguish between 25 basic window shapes, but at the end of the day we offer ‘custom bent’ products. This means that every window is developed, bent, manufactured exactly to the individual client’s specifications. This means a lot of manual craftsmanship. Of course, we try to support our employees with modern CNC-controlled facilities as much as possible, but, in the end, expertise and knowledge determine the quality of our products.” Ventana USA has been relying on Roto hardware and the trusted cooperation with the team of Roto Frank of America for around 17 years. Of course, clients who purchase “European” Ventana products particularly profit from the benefits of the Roto NT solutions or the Roto Patio 6080. Another development from Chester is hiding in the popular garden windows with the OPO6 X-Drive. “We work together closely and are in pretty much constant contact not only with our contact partners Mark Heckler, Bill Shipman and Marco Kroes at Roto in Chester, but also with the regional sales manager David Gilson. They reliably keep us up to date about new technologies and actively support us with the marketing of our products, for example in the upcomingGlassBuild America in September,” says Tony Pauly with satisfaction. Careful optimism in the construction industry When talking to a North American businessman, the question about the state of the local construction industry is on everyone’s lips ... “We can confidently say that we have got through the ‘vale of tears’ already. Our customers – many of whom reduced their capacities dramatically at the height of the crisis – are cautiously optimistic, and certainly not without reason. The window and door industry expects a market growth of between three and five percent this year. With 80 percent turnover share, the modernisation and renovation sector definitely dominates at the moment. However, it appears that the new-build sector is slowly picking up, and bigger building projects are also being commissioned again,” Tony Pauly reports. Tony Pauly, Vice President/General Manager of Ventana USA Ventana USA ’s present headquarters is located in Export, around 40 km to the east of Pittsburgh. The company produces high-quality PVC windows and doors on approximately 6,600 square metres.
