Roto Inside | 6.2013 6 | Roto cooperates with GGT Growth market, 50-plus generation ■■ New at Roto The demographic statistics have proved it for years: on average, societies in almost all of the world’s developed countries are getting older. This is a trend that affects many spheres of life. In Germany, the Iserlohn-based GGT (German Association for Gerontotechnology) has been examining these effects in greater detail since 1993. In par- ticular, the development of generational building and living concepts represents one of the GGT’s main areas of activity. This is a sector for which Roto also has much to offer, as demonstrated by a model property newly developed by the GGT for BAU 2013. “We want to bring together consumers, industry, trade and handicrafts in the growth market of the 50-plus generation,” is how Günther Klauke explains the fundamental concerns of the GGT. “Among other things, we want to promote the development of products that stand out in terms of their comfort, ease of use, security and not least an attractive design for every generation.” Many such products can be seen in the permanent GGT exhibition that covers 1,200 square metres in Iserlohn. This is also where the multi-function house that was first presented at BAU 2013 in Munich is being (re)built. This completely accessible, timber-framed house is attractive in many different ways. “It’s attractive for planners and building owners because, thanks to the high level of prefabrication and the modular design, the property can be built quickly and with comparatively little planning work. And the high level of comfort that it offers makes living in this house particularly attractive to residents. This is thanks in no small measure to the intelligent building technology, which received a great deal of attention in our collaboration with Roto, among others,” says Günther Klauke. Intelligent Roto solutions in use For Franz Kick, Key Account Manager in Roto Sales (Central Europe), who was largely responsible for the successful integration of Roto technology into the GGT model prop- erty, cooperation with the GGT is an almost logical step: “Everything that makes an entrance barrier-free and makes the movement of windows and doors easier is optimally incorporated in the GGT building concept. For example, with the motorised Patio Life sliding hardware, which incorporates drive technology and special thresh- old solutionsthat are flush with the floor, Roto offers a system that optimally fulfils all demands in terms of comfort, barrier-free living and modern technology. This means that impermeability against driving rain, heavy sash weights of up to 400 kg and secure night ventilation can be realisedwith no problem at all. Another elementary building technology feature is the Roto E-Tec Drive, which can be integrated into all windows as a concealed elec- tronic tilt-opening and locking system and is particularly convenient to operate. Just as convenient as the main door with the new, fully electronic Eneo CC multi-point locking system and another new development, the E-Tec Door Drive mechanism.” Products & services Window and door manufactures who want to find out about the opportunities in the growth market that is “generational building” can read about the GGT and what it has to offer at www.gerontotechnik.de. Comfort & quality for all generations: Barrier-free living and intelligent building technology make the GGT model property a trendsetter. Open sesame! The intelligent building technology of the GGT model property was realised with the aid of flexible bus technology. It allows the lighting, heating, ventilation and domestic appliances to be controlled centrally, for example. This technology makes the interplay with “intelligent” window and door drives particularly pleasant. “Even just entering the multifunctional property is like magic. Whether you use a fingerprint, Bluetooth,or a keypad – thanks to Roto, the main entrance door opens and closes at the press of a button. In addition to this, the modern drive system is almost invisible. All of the technology is ‘hidden’ in the upper door frame. The terrace door also operates on this ‘open sesame’ principle: a Roto sliding door drive, located out of sight in the floor, does its work here. It almost goes without saying that the ‘normal’ Roto windows are also integrated into the building auto- mation and that they open and close almost silently in response to an electronic command.” Window and door manufacturers who want to find out about the opportunities in the growth market that is “generational building” can read about the GGT and what it has to offer at www.gerontotechnik.de.
