Door system tests at the Roto ITC Kalsdorf

Leinfelden-Echterdingen – Main doors and back doors should look good and work reliably. This is why renowned manufacturers rely on the Roto “Door” hardware product range with its multipoint locks, main door hinges and thresholds. These are complemented by additional products such as gaskets, lever handles and cylinders. The “International Technology Centre” (ITC) at Roto’s production site in Kalsdorf, Austria, is open to customers to complete all manner of function and quality tests relating to doors. These tests are carried out on door systems made of PVC, timber and aluminium along with hinge and lock components.

Specialised test centre

ITC Kalsdorf has for many years been focusing on tests and testing procedures that provide key information on the quality of hardware and doors. With its current total of 27 test rigs, it is possible to carry out tests on multipoint locks and door hinges very quickly if required. This benefits both “Door” product development and customers of Roto Frank Fenster- und Türtechnologie.

Enhanced service for door manufacturers

With immediate effect, four door standard-compliant test rigs are available at the ITC Kalsdorf, allowing door manufacturers to carry out durability tests in accordance with DIN EN 1191, enabling them to complete 200,000 or more opening cycles. The ITC has been specially accredited to perform these tests. There is also a test rig here to perform burglary tests up to RC 4.

The investments now being made to enhance the ITC are “an important step towards a comprehensive service for door manufacturers,” explains Martin Pauritsch, who is Head of “Door” Product Development and in charge of the Kalsdorf-based ITC. In recent years, Roto has not only continuously expanded its product portfolio for main doors and back doors, but also its range of services.

Roto ensures quality

The range of test rigs and measuring instruments at the ITC Kalsdorf has been continuously expanded – initially for internal use. The “Door” prototype building is also directly connected to the test centre. This allows the installation of hardware to be immediately tested and optimised. “First and foremost, the opportunities afforded us at our test centre help us to optimally synchronise the components of the ‘Door’ product portfolio,” emphasises Martin Pauritsch.

The fact that the Kalsdorf-based testing specialists are now increasingly making their expertise available to customers gives the experienced industry expert a sense of optimism. “Planning, producing and testing quality together is efficient and holds much promise. That’s why I’m delighted that even more of our customers will have the opportunity to use the ITC Kalsdorf in the future.”
