Personal reports from our apprentices and students

What do you particularly like about your vocational training?

Leon Hoffmann, Industrial Management Assistant
Roto Leinfelden

"I particularly appreciate the outstanding supervision and support that we get both in the training process and in the specialist processes.
You feel like you have a lot of support thanks to the arrangements that are in place, such as a structured training plan, fixed contacts in the specialist process, defined educational content and much more.
I am also impressed by the great confidence that is shown in the trainees.
Even from the very first day, we have the opportunity to take charge of our own projects and are directly involved in important decision-making processes.
This shows me that I can have a great impact and that my work is appreciated."

What were your first days and weeks like at Roto?

Alessandra Da Silva,
Industrial Engineering Studies
Roto Leinfelden

"My first days at Roto were shaped by exciting insights into the company. From the very beginning, we noticed how strong the team spirit was.

We were integrated quickly and were able to learn a lot from more experienced employees and our mentors, which meant that we got to grips with things quickly."

What speaks in favour of vocational training at Roto?

Patrick Schmauder, Industrial Mechanic
Roto Leinfelden

"At Roto, staff make a great effort to look after the apprentices and there is even a performance review.

You feel integrated in the departments straight away and you’re not seen as just the apprentice.

"Go for Europe", apprentice exchanges, etc. provide the opportunity to become familiar with other countries or sites.

Training programmes cover all the specialist fields at the company so that trainees leave with a good understanding of what the staff there actually do."

How can theory and practice be combined at Roto?

Choongeun Park, Mechanical Engineering Studies
Roto Leinfelden

"Dual studies courses consist of theoretical and practical phases. In the theoretical phase, you attend university and have lectures about a range of different subjects depending on the specialisation. Then in the practical phase, there is the opportunity to experience the things that you learn about in actual situations in the company.
Roto is an excellent place to apply the knowledge acquired at university in practice.

A well-organised training plan deploys apprentices and students in various departments within the company. This plan is created on the basis of the field of study, and the students get to know the departments that are relevant to their studies, e.g. training workshop, product development, sales, logistics, HR, etc.

In every department, someone is appointed to support the students. The students are given tasks which are challenging and sometimes require great responsibility. The fact that we can directly apply our knowledge from university is really valuable. This makes studying really fun, too!"

Does the course involve spending time abroad?

Jacqueline Schaaf, International Business Studies
Roto Leinfelden

"We were given many opportunities to gain experience abroad. This begins with time spent abroad at a (partner) university, as desired by Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University in Stuttgart, continues with a three-month internship in one of our subsidiaries abroad and additionally involves a four to six-week trip to our sales subsidiary in Nivelles, Belgium."
