Roto donates €10,000 to the Elfriede Frank Foundation and helps people in the region

Leinfelden-Echterdingen/Bad Mergentheim – Social involvement and sporting success are closely linked at Roto Dach- und Solartechnologie. One of the causes to benefit from this is the Elfriede Frank Foundation, which received a €10,000 donation from Roto last week. The money will benefit people in the region.

When handing over the symbolic donation cheque, Member of the Board of Directors at Roto, Christoph Hugenberg, explained that: “In terms of the economy, things are going well for Germany, and the south in particular. Nevertheless, in our country there are also people who have been dealt a bad hand in life and now need help to get back on their feet. As an economically successful company, we are aware of our social responsibility and, for us, giving something back to the people in our local area is a matter of course.”

Over €215,000 donated already

On the basis of this philosophy, Roto Dach- und Solartechnologie has been using participation in sports events as a way of collecting money for good purposes together with partners and suppliers for many years now. Over the past six years, the company has already raised over €215,000, the majority of which remains in the region. The Elfriede Frank Foundation, which was set up 26 years ago by the Company founder’s wife, supports those in need and people who find themselves in desperate circumstances through no fault of their own near Roto’s locations in Germany. It additionally funds youth services, schooling, adult education, vocational training and other charitable causes.

“We are financed by donations from citizens, Roto and the company’s founding family – the Frank family. This allows us to distribute around €40,000 to €50,000 per year and help about 300 people,” explains Johann Hirn, Chairman of the Board of Directors at the foundation. A good half of the money donated comes from Roto’s charity sports activities. “Elfriede Frank had a strong connection to her home and wanted to give back something lasting,” reports Johann Hirn. “I am certain that she would be most pleased with the excellent support from Roto’s colleagues and partners!”

Money for nursery schools in Bad Mergentheim and for Africa

Roto collected the funds for the current donation as part of its participation in the Roth Triathlon Challenge in July – involving a 3.8 km swim, 180 km of cycling and a 42.2 km marathon. In addition to the Elfriede Frank Foundation, nursery schools in the Bad Mergentheim region and the “Sportler gegen Hunger” (Athletes against hunger) initiative, which is dedicated to building schools in Africa and educating children there, also received contributions of the same amount. Christoph Hugenberg states that the aim is to provide children with an education and assistance.
